Experiencing all the joy in spite of...
Today, I got in my car to drive the shortest possible distance to a friend's house. Before I could accelerate past 20 mph, the car started to want to stall out. I did make it to the friend's house and back home. But, I definitely need the car to be on a timeout until I can get it to a mechanic. And while this is a small problem overall, I am delighted to find that I am feeling such joy in spite of this "problem".
Once upon a time, I was always preparing (and fearing) the worst-case scenario. And while I'm in recovery (because yes, sometimes I still go there), I'm much less inclined to do so these days. I have naturally increased my joy and gratitude, and it carries me through most of life's hiccups.
So while this is not strictly about work, it is about how inviting the good into one area of your life can automatically extend the good into all areas of life. And at its core, that's the whole goal of JoyWithinWork anyway.
"Inviting the good into one area...can automatically extend the good into all areas of your life". Thank you for this call to action. I hesitate to invite good into any area of my life for fear of losing it because I've determined that I somehow don't deserve good. This is a wonderful reminder of the beautiful fruits of a little bit of joy! <3
